Fun Fitness Weekend – kick off the New Year with healthy eating and exercise!

Sandy Cove is offering three days of fun-filled exercise sessions featuring the ministries of First Place 4 Health and Body & Soul Fitness. All fitness components will be covered: cardio, strength training and flexibility training – taught with YOU in mind by Certified Fitness Trainers.
During this Fun & Fitness 4 Life Weekend everything from Dance Blast (you love Zumba, right? This is everything you love about it done to great Christian music!) to Power Strength training to Chair Fitness will be offered.
We have something for every ‘body’! Plus Bible based teaching on How to Sustain Your Fitness Motivation by Vicki Heath, author of Don’t Quit Get Fit.
This weekend is just for women – All fitness levels welcome!
Body & Soul Fitness Workout Descriptions:
Basic Techniques of Strength Training
A full body work out incorporating balance, core strength and stability utilizing bands, hand weights and your own body weight.
An interval workout that combines sports drills, cardiovascular, resistance, core and balance training that is physically challenging, emotionally & spiritually uplifting.
Dancing is taking the nation by storm! Learn a few basic dance steps and burn a ton of calories. Hip Hop, Salsa, and swing, beginner and advanced modifications, you choose your level.
Functional exercise class suited for all fitness levels, and includes cardio movement, strength training, coordination and balance exercises, and flexibility training.
Core and Flexibility with Pilates – Gentle stretching and strength for the mind and body, flexibility training, relaxation, core body strengthening using the Pilate method of breathing.
Most workouts will include a chair workout option - All ages and fitness levels can enjoy this workout. This a workout option for “any body” that needs to build strength and endurance in a fun, safe, and effective way. The workout is done seated which is ideal for those with temporary injuries, weight challenges, orthopedic and balance issues, and other medical conditions.
Water Aerobics with Sue Sabo
Come get both physically and spiritually awakened for the day! Water Aerobics is a 45 minute in-water workout that, from warm up to cool down, exercises your body while the uplifting praise music awakens your soul to worship the Lord. Guests rave about water aerobics with Sue!!
Body & Soul Fitness Instructor Introduction
Are you currently or have you ever considered becoming a fitness instructor? Join us to learn more about leading Body & Soul at your church or facility. Consider completing the online application before you arrive, go to www.bodyandsoul.org, click on “Instructors” at the top. Then click “Become an Instructor,” complete the application, and hit submit. We will spend large group and one-on-one time with you to answer all your questions during the weekend. Applications will also be available at the session.
$16 – A portable chair designed for comfort and support is used as a massage therapist administers a 15-minute stress-relieving massage designed to enhance circulation, reduce muscle tension and leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. Massage is administered while fully clothed. Sign up at table outside Milburn.
How to Start a Wellness Ministry
Learn how you, too, can share in the life-change that happens when you start a wellness ministry. During this session, you will hear details about the two ministries that are partnering this weekend, FirstPlace4Health and Body & Soul Fitness. You can bring one or both ministries to your church.

Or drive back to North East, MD for a Main Street that offers many attractive antique shops with treasures from the past, crafts and collectible shops, as well as restaurants for casual dining.
Vicki Heath is National Director, First Place 4 Health. Vicki is a certified fitness instructor for the American Council on Exercise, a certified life coach and Wellness Coordinator for her church in Edisto Beach, SC. Vicki is author of the book Don’t Quit Get Fit. She has led a successful First Place 4 Health ministry in her church for more than 18 years. Vicki is passionate about Christ and has a desire to help others understand the value of caring for their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. Vicki is a pastor’s wife and mother of four wonderful children.
Amy currently serves as the President of Body & Soul Fitness. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She is certified as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor with the American Council on Exercise, and has been ministering to women through Body & Soul in Williamsburg, Virginia, for 14 years. She has been married to Steve for 24 years and they have a daughter, Jordan, who is a senior in high school. Amy’s passion is serving the Lord through the instrument of exercise and wellness, and considers it a great privilege to encourage others in their faith and fitness.
Lisa Lewis is the First Place 4 Health Chief Operating Officer, overseeing publishing, social media and day-to-day operating functions of the First Place 4 Health office. Lisa’s cooking skills have been a part of FP4H wellness weeks and other events for many years. She provided recipes for 12 of the First Place 4 Health Bible studies and is author of Healthy Happy Cooking released November, 2016. She is dedicated to bringing people together around the dinner table with healthy, delicious meals that are easy to prepare. Lisa lives in Galveston and is married to John. They have three children: Tal, Hunter and Harper.
Teri Moscatelli is the Northeast Regional Director for Body & Soul Fitness. She is certified as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise. She serves on the choreography team for the Body & Soul Cardio/Strength program. Teri’s passion is to inspire and encourage women in both their spiritual walk with Jesus Christ, and to help women achieve their physical wellness goals. Teri has been leading Body & Soul classes for 27 years. She also ministers with her husband Steve with the college age students in their home church in Edgewater, MD. Teri is a mother of three daughters.
Speaker and Worship Leader
Charlotte is the First Place 4 Health Networking Leader for the Arkansas area. She has led FP4H groups in Arkansas churches since 1995 and says that she never plans to stop because God forever changed her life and her priorities through the program! Charlotte is a Registered, Licensed Dietitian and works as the Child Nutrition Director for Searcy Public Schools, a district of about 4100 students.
Charlotte has been married to Tony Davis for 30 years and they have two grown children - Kayla (25), and Jake (21) - both headed to graduate school fall of 2017. Her favorite activities include spending time with her family, serving on the Praise Team in her church, reading Christian literature, cooking, and creating stamped greeting cards to send to her FP4H friends/family.
Harper is a full-time student at St. Edward’s University, majoring in Social Work. She has been a part of First Place 4 Health for many years as a volunteer and occasional event photographer, and has assisted with the meals at Wellness Week since she was nine years old. Harper’s goal is to help children and their families live healthy lives – mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Harper lives in Austin, Texas, but loves to visit her family in Galveston, Texas.
Elizabeth P. Berbano
Elizabeth P. Berbano (Liz), MD, MPH, is a Fit 360/Boot Camp Trainer and Assistant Area Director with Body & Soul Fitness (B&S). She teaches B&S classes at Capital Baptist Church in Annandale, Virginia and is a part-time
internal medicine physician at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Liz is also wife to Darren and mom to Josh, Nerissa, and David. In addition to B&S classes, Liz loves to run with Team Toby Mac in the Country Music Marathon each year to support New Hope Academy in Nashville, TN. Liz is a speaker with the Bod4God/Losing to Live weight loss program, started by her senior pastor, Steve Reynolds. She loves working with youth, Christian music, and serving God in all that she does.
Liz is a practicing Internist in Bethesda, MD. She served in the U.S. Army, received her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 1993, completed residency in Internal Medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center, and completed a Masters of Public Health Degree at Uniformed Services University in 2004. She has been in practice for 25
years. She is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as an internal medicine physician and the American Council on Exercise as a group fitness instructor.

Sandy Cove has a “Good Weather Guarantee” for this event!
Register and then pray for snow. If 3 inches or more of white stuff falls at your house, Sandy Cove, or anywhere along your travel route during the days of the event, we will give you $50 off a future event, just for toughing it out and showing up!
Sandy Cove is a great place to be in a snowstorm – big windows next to a fireplace, a generator to keep the electricity on, staff who will shovel out your car. Some of our best programs have been in blizzards! But if it gets REALLY bad, (like it does about every 5 years) and you just can’t make it here, our cancellation policy for those extreme weather circumstances is very lenient.
